Valorie Nagy

Retired Mental Health Counselor

Valorie Nagy has dedicated her entire career to serving others through the helping professions. Raised in Deming, New Mexico, she earned a bachelor's degree in Corrections from the University of Albuquerque before beginning her career in Cheyenne, Wyoming. There, she served for 11 years as a Probation and Parole Officer, working with both juvenile and adult offenders.

In 1988, Valorie moved to Claremore, Oklahoma, where she joined the Oklahoma Department of Human Services as a Child Welfare Investigator and later became a supervisor. During her 17 years with the agency, she earned a master's degree in Human Relations and completed the clinical and educational requirements to become a Licensed Professional Counselor.

Following her service with DHS, Valorie joined Grand Lake Mental Health Center as a Mental Health Professional. During her 10-year tenure, she was honored as Employee of the Year and played an instrumental role in opening the crisis stabilization units in Vinita and Pryor. She retired after a distinguished career spanning nearly four decades of public service.

Valorie is the proud mother of one son and enjoys spending time with him. She is an active volunteer at Claremore First Methodist Church, creates beautiful gourd art, and enjoys exercising with friends. Her lifelong commitment to helping individuals and strengthening communities makes her a valued member of the KEY Choices Board of Directors.
