About Us
KEY Choices provides an evidence-based, science-rich drug prevention program that empowers junior high & high school students to make healthier, anti-drug choices.
We are an educator-run organization with a science-rich, evidence-based curriculum. We developed our curriculum to address the needs and circumstances of Oklahoma students in grades 6 - 12. We have also written a curriculum for understanding how marijuana affects the adolescent brain and the risks of vaping. All of this takes place in four 50-55-minute class periods.
During the summer of 2025, we created a curriculum that teaches students about how alcohol affects the adolescent brain, including its physiological, mental, emotional, and social effects. This is offered as an optional fifth session.
Our Oklahoma-certified teachers have decades of classroom experience and have been explicitly trained to guide students through this vital information. Because KEY Choices is funded by donors, we provide the program and teach it at no cost to schools.
KEY Choices was founded in 2022 by Oklahoma educator Cathy Crawford.
