  • Over 9000 Oklahoma teens (12 to 17) report misusing pain relievers.

  • 19,000 Oklahoma teens (12 to 17) report using marijuana in the last month.

  • 36,500 Oklahoma teens (12 to 17) report using marijuana in the last year.

  • Over 1000 Oklahoma youth (12 to 17)  report using cocaine in the last year.  

  • Over 1000 Oklahoma teens (12 to 17)  report using methamphetamines.

  • Over 10,000 Oklahoma teens (12 to 17) met the criteria for IDUD (Illicit Drug Use Disorder - aka Addiction) in the last year.

  • 134,000 Oklahoma young adults (18 to 25) used drugs in the last month (2020).

According to the National Center for Drug Abuse Statistics, early drug abuse correlates with substance abuse problems later in life. The most significant increases in destructive behavior appear to take place among older teens and young adults. Our goal at KEY Choices is to stop it before it starts by informing Oklahoma youth of the dangers of illicit drug use.
